I disputed some items through Experian and Equifax. Does simply disputing the debt re-start the 7 year count down?

The debt is 5 years old. No payments and no promises to pay. Not sure if the debt is mine or not. All they have sent me is a computer screen printout of the amount I owe. No signatures or anything.
